Short Biography

 

On January 17th, 1706, "Electric Ben" was born! He had multiple siblings; some of them half-siblings, and others just siblings. He was gifted in many ways; he was a talented writer, author, painter, politician, postmaster, scientist, inventor, civic activist, and many other things. Many people know him for differnt reasons. He had positively contributed things to our world, he has definitely changed modern society forever. So much, in fact, that some things we use may not even be here today if it wasn't for him.  Some of his inventions include, the lightning rod, bifocals, and the Franklin stove.

 

Ben's school career ended when he was ten, so some people really question how he ended up being such a smart and talented person. He worked with his father for many years, in the printing business. When Ben was 17 years old, he ran away to Philadelphia to start a new life. Since he was very experienced with the printing business, he decided to start a newspaper when he got to Philadelphia. He was actually suggested this idea by Sir William Keith. Ben became the publisher of The Pennsylvania Gazette. Shortly after that time, he proposed to Deborah Road, but was not given permission because Deborah's mother was worried about his financial stablility.

 

At a later point in time, he eventually married Deborah, and they had two children, William, and Sarah(William being the one that helped him complete his kite expermient.) After that, Ben was concerned about his own life, and wanted to learn about mnay diiferent things that would make him a smarter person. Ben went on to make many inventions and scientific inquires throughout his life that have made many of our lives easier and better.
